The Morris Island light house has a long history on Folly Beach, originally built In 1767, this was the first lighthouse to guide ships into the Charleston Harbor.  Rebuilt in 1867, originally constructed 1200 feet from the waters edge it is completely surrounded by water at high tide today.  In 1999, Save The Light, Inc. bought the historic lighthouse for $75,000 to preserve it for the people of South Carolina. In 2000, the lighthouse was transferred to the State of South Carolina through the Department of Natural Resources for preservation purposes. read more…
